My husband and I never quite live up to the hype of the big V-Day. We’re at our best when we’re just being us, not exchanging boxes of chocolate that will only get half eaten.
Our February 14 also gets a lot better if there is good food involved.

My fondest Valentine’s Days with my husband were often low-key, quirky, and food-centric. There was the year we stayed in and ordered a heart-shaped pizza. Then there was the evening we took a vase with a small fake flower to a Steak ‘n Shake. There wasn’t much to either celebration, yet we got to share a good meal and spend time with one another, which I hear is what Valentine’s Day is all about. It wasn’t about presents or planning, it was just about us and food.
