Share your favorite holiday food for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to Avalon

November 30, 2011 by Ashlee Clark Thompson

I’m so excited about hosting my first giveaway on the blog.

“How excited? ” you wonder.

This excited:

I’m giving away a $25 gift certificate to Avalon, which has a lunch menu with more than 20 items that are less than $7. Let’s all give a hand clap to Avalon for making this giveaway possible.

Here’s how you can win. Answer this question in the comments section today through Friday, Dec. 2:

What is your favorite food or dish that you only eat around the holidays?

To get things rolling, I’ll let you in on my favorite holiday food. I discovered this gingersnaps recipe a few years ago and have since added it to my holiday baking. I only make these at this time of year. Call me crazy, but a gingersnap cookie is only to be enjoyed at Christmastime.

I’ll randomly select the winning commenter and announce the winner on Monday. Make sure you leave your email address in the appropriate field that only I can see. Only one entry per person.

Good luck!

  1. Mary Anne says:

I usually choke down a Springerle during the holiday season, and wonder why anyone would invent a licorice cookie…

  2. Kristen says:

I love, love love stuffing, so much that I should eat it more than during the holidays. But I don’t.

  3. Kari says:

Don’t laugh but I actually love my Mom’s chocolate cherry fruitcake.

  4. Brandy says:

Cranberry-Eggnog muffins. The muffins, enjoyed with a good cup of coffee, make a great breakfast.

  5. Susan says:

I love stuffing so, so much, but I only eat it around the holidays. I never realized this until just this minute – I may have to change this in the coming year.

  6. Emily Jayne says:

My favorite dish that I only eat on Christmas morning are orange rolls. Sort of like cinnamon rolls, but flavored with oranges instead of cinnamon 🙂

  7. Erica T says:

For me, it would be stuffing!

  8. I make 10+ dozen sugar cookies to decorate and give to friends and family every year.

  9. @lisainlouky says:

My favorite thing to eat this time of year is my homemade truffles. Also, my Mom’s apricot cake.

  10. Kara says:

I am a big fan of gingerbread (you know, the original kind with a lemon sauce?…mmmm). Also, my mom is Italian, so we always have lasagna along with traditional meals…I love walking into my parents and soaking in the scent of her sauce simmering on the stove and then helping to assemble the lasagna. I think it is almost as much the tradition of the two of us making it together more than anything else!
