So Trader Joe’s is coming to Louisville?

The Big Guy must listen to my food prayers.

Signs are pointing to “yes” that Trader Joe’s is coming to Louisville.

The quirky grocery chain loved by hipsters and health nuts “intends to apply for licenses to sell beer and liquor at 4600 Shelbyville Road – the Shelbyville Road Plaza in St. Matthews – by June 1,” according to the Courier-Journal. And Business First seems pretty certain about the store’s arrival.

The Powers That Be still aren’t confirming that the store will definitely make a home in Louisville, but this is obviously a step in that direction.

The news made me do a happy dance. But one complaint – can we get a nice store like Trader Joe’s in a different part of the city? Gas is expensive, yet I have to burn a quarter tank just to do some decent shopping in Louisville. /end rant

  1. You can not beat Trader Joe’s $2.79 wine. The shiraz is my favorite. I don’t have one super close so if I am on that side of town I stock up on their wine and they have these 3-colored veggie flax chips that are out of this world.

Personally, I’d like to see Trader Joe’s or some other shop like it come to the closing down border’s stores. 4th Street Live would be a great place to have a contemporary shopping location. Taylorsville and Hurstborne would be good as well, avoid the shelbyville rd holiday crowd.

I agree on the location. It’s so close to Whole Foods, can we spread the natural/organic food love around the city a bit?! I second Rob’s Taylorsville and Hurstbourne suggestion, mostly because that’s walking distance from my house. 😉
