This is a good time to be a foodie in Louisville.
Lots of good things are happening in the area. Here’s a peek at the latest news out of the Derby City food scene.
- 21c Museum and Hotels, the company that owns Proof on Main, will open a new restaurant on East Market Street in a former auto repair shop. Proof’s head chef, Michael Paley, will be chef and co-owner of the new restaurant, which will feature pizza from a wood-fired oven. (Consuming Louisville, Courier-Journal, Food and Dining Magazine)
- Celebrity chef Guy Fieri, host of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives and Minute to Win It, will return to Louisville to host the Marriott Oaks Bourbon Brunch from 8 to 10:30 a.m. May 6 at the Louisville Marriott Downtown, 280 W. Jefferson St. (Courier-Journal)
- State and federal government officials recognized 77 Jefferson County elementary schools for excellence in school nutrition. (Courier-Journal)
- A new Heine Brothers’ Coffee will open in mid-March on the corner of Eastern Parkway and Shelby Street in Schnitzelburg. Don’t be surprised if you see me there one day. (Consuming Louisville)
